because at the end of the day people in d.c. public schools people in urban cities that are going to school, teachers in those schools they're not afraid of the magazine clips. it is the junk handguns. i have a friend who teaches in a prep school. a kid walked in with a gun that wasn't loaded but walked in last year. just with a gun in the backpack. that's a significant question to ask. >> bill: no. it is also -- part of the debate. there's no doubt about it. there are many more people killed every year in this country from guns. we've had several people in the last couple of days who made that point on this program. than the mass murders. even what happened in newtown connecticut. as horrific as it was. you know, 30,000 people i think killed with guns every year in this country. so if you add up all of the mass murders, it is maybe 10% of that 30 but still it gets our attention particularly in newtown because there were 20 6-year-olds. as complex as it is, the president said yesterday you know, it is not an excuse for not doing
